Although the town of Duck is well known as the premier vacation spot for families on the Outer Banks and in some opinions, the best on the East coast, it has also become a destination for year-round living. Regularly appearing on several national Best Beaches’ lists, Duck has all the ingredients of a magical home town community. Access to the ocean is private to the communities that border the oceanfront keeping the beaches clean and uncrowded. There are several soundfront accesses provided by local watersports businesses offering kayaking, surfing, kayaking, kiteboarding, sailing and other water-based activities. The shopping and dining in Duck are extraordinary with no chains and one of a kind shops.

Where to Stay in Duck

There are no big hotel chains or campgrounds in Duck, only the Sanderling Inn, a few condos and a modest number of vacation rental homes. Several Outer Banks property management companies represent vacation rentals in the area. Rentals in Duck generally book up early in the year, though many companies will book reservations up to a year in advance.
