Many Outer Banks towns have unusual names; Kitty Hawk, Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills, Duck, etc. Kitty Hawk was originally called “Chickahawk” (A place to hunt Geese) by the Native American residents. Over time the name evolved to Kitty Hawk, now a favorite Outer Banks Vacation destination.

Outer Banks vacationers will find that Kitty Hawk has something for everyone, including fantastic beaches, plenty of cool shops, tasty dining options and even a large section of protected maritime forest known as Kitty Hawk Woods, where visitors can enjoy quiet nature trails and view the local wildlife.
